OWC Terms, Conditions and Policies

Other World Computing (OWC) offers a 1 Year Limited Warranty on the complete processor tray module including the OWC-Installed processor for qualified MacPro’s participating in the OWC Xeon Processor Upgrade Program (“Covered Product”). The original OWC Invoice Number will identify covered Product. OWC’s Lifetime Warranty on Memory separately covers any OWC installed and/or provided memory.

This 1 Year Limited Warranty is for the Mac Pro Processor/Memory Tray Module as provided by OWC with the selected processor option.

This warranty covers: The complete Apple Mac Pro Processor/Memory Tray module and including the Intel Xeon processors provided by OWC. The Labor and Service for the exchange installation of the above-listed components.

Should an issue arise during the coverage period, OWC will kindly ask that the complete Apple Mac Pro Processor/Memory Tray module be removed from your Mac Pro and sent to OWC upon receipt of a return authorization number. OWC will cover standard ground freight for both the pickup and return of the unit to the customer during the warranty period. Should it be determined that there is no actual issue or the issue is the result of something not covered by warranty, a fee of $149 will apply which will include cost of bench time and standard freight costs incurred by OWC, OWC covers the cost of Ground shipping 48 contiguous United States. Should the return shipping address reside outside of the 48 contiguous United States, the customer is responsible for the return shipping fees and OWC will cover the cost of return freight to the customer for a warrantable issue.

Costs quoted for program options include the retention by OWC of existing processors(all upgrade options) and, if applicable, original single processor/memory tray module(applies to upgrade from Quad-Core or 6-Core model to dual processor Quad-Core x 2 or 6-Core x 2 options). The base price of the program includes retention credit for base Apple equipped processor, custom configuration selections provide additional credit for higher than Apple base equipped processor.

This 1 Year Limited Warranty excludes normal wear of the components, specifically wear on the memory sockets.

Original, factory installed components that are not upgraded are not covered under this warranty. Customers should contact the Original Manufacturer of the components for additional warranty information.

Nothing being performed should void your original Mac Pro warranty entirely. However, OWC cannot guarantee the actions of the original manufacturer. OWC encourages consumers to familiarize themselves with their consumer rights per US law and regulation. The Federal Trade Commission has very specific consumer protection laws, as outlined by the FTC’s Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.

OWC reserves the right to repair or replace components at their discretion and reserves the right to replace with similar components that are equal to or better than the original.

This limited warranty is NON-TRANSFERABLE and will only be honored for the original purchaser of the OWC Turnkey Xeon Processor Upgrade Program listed on the original OWC Invoice.

Installed components may include longer warranty periods. Those warranties are independent from this warranty coverage.

This Warranty applies only to the OWC-Installed Intel Processor and the corresponding Processor Tray listed on the original OWC invoice for the OWC Xeon Processor Upgrade Program for Mac Pro’s. The Warranty does not apply to any other hardware products or any software, third party or factory original, except that which is sold in direct conjunction with the Mac Pro upgrade being performed. Manufacturers, suppliers, or publishers, other than OWC, may provide their own warranties to the end user purchaser, but OWC, in so far as permitted by law, provides their products and services "as is".

This 1 Year Limited Warranty excludes coverage of any original Apple or aftermarket-installed memory. However, OWC does offer excellent aftermarket memory in Do-It-Yourself Kits. These kits have their own World-Class Warranty and can be purchased at the same time as your upgrade service! This 1 Year Limited Warranty excludes coverage of any original Apple or aftermarket heat-sync units. Please contact the original manufacturer of the memory and/or heat-sync units for warranty coverage.

This 1 Year Limited Warranty excludes normal wear or the components, specifically wear on the memory sockets.

OWC will make best efforts to assist its customers with ensuring that any manufacturer’s warranties are fulfilled to the extent required by US Federal laws.

All warranties are void if the upgraded OWC-Installed Processor and corresponding processor tray is damaged by or tampered with, serviced by anyone other than an OWC Certified Technician or if “VOID IF REMOVED” sticker has, in fact, been removed. OWC is not responsible for any components removed or rendered inoperable by any other technician.

Should an Intel Processor and corresponding processor tray be submitted for upgrade be diagnosed with any defects or operational problems, OWC reserves the right to reject that the equipment for inclusion in the Upgrade Program. Diagnosis and shipping fees may apply.

Other World Computing does not warrant that the operation of the product will be uninterrupted or error-free. Other World Computing is not responsible for damage arising from failure to follow instructions relating to the product's use. This warranty does not apply: (a) to damage caused by use with non-Other World Computing products; (b) to damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, flood, fire, earthquake or other external causes; (c) to damage caused by operating the product outside the permitted or intended uses described by Other World Computing; (d) to a product or part that has been modified to significantly alter functionality or capability without the written permission of Other World Computing; (e) to consumable parts, such as batteries, unless damage has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship; or (f) if any Other World Computing serial number has been removed or defaced.

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THIS WARRANTY AND REMEDIES SET FORTH ABOVE ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, REMEDIES AND CONDITIONS, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, STATUTORY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. AS PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OTHER WORLD COMPUTING SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTIES AGAINST HIDDEN OR LATENT DEFECTS. IF OTHER WORLD COMPUTING CANNOT LAWFULLY DISCLAIM STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES THEN TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALL SUCH WARRANTIES SHALL BE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION OF THIS EXPRESS WARRANTY AND TO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT SERVICE AS DETERMINED BY OTHER WORLD COMPUTING IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION. No Other World Computing reseller, agent, or employee is authorized to make any modification, extension, or addition to this warranty.

EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN THIS WARRANTY AND TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OTHER WORLD COMPUTING ITS PARENT, NEW CONCEPTS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, AND ITS AFFILIATES ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM ANY BREACH OF WARRANTY OR CONDITION, OR UNDER ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF USE; LOSS OF REVENUE; LOSS OF ACTUAL OR ANTICIPATED PROFITS (INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS ON CONTRACTS); LOSS OF THE USE OF MONEY; LOSS OF ANTICIPATED SAVINGS; LOSS OF BUSINESS; LOSS OF OPPORTUNITY; LOSS OF GOODWILL; LOSS OF REPUTATION; LOSS OF, DAMAGE TO OR CORRUPTION OF DATA; OR ANY INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS OR DAMAGE HOWSOEVER CAUSED INCLUDING THE REPLACEMENT OF EQUIPMENT AND PROPERTY, ANY COSTS OF RECOVERING, PROGRAMMING, OR REPRODUCING ANY PROGRAM OR DATA STORED OR USED WITH OTHER WORLD COMPUTING PRODUCTS AND ANY FAILURE TO MAINTAIN THE CONFIDENTIALITY OF DATA STORED ON THE PRODUCT. THE FOREGOING LIMITATION SHALL NOT APPLY TO DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY CLAIMS. OTHER WORLD COMPUTING DISCLAIMS ANY REPRESENTATION THAT IT WILL BE ABLE TO REPAIR ANY PRODUCT UNDER THIS WARRANTY OR MAKE A PRODUCT EXCHANGE WITHOUT RISK TO OR LOSS OF THE PROGRAMS OR DATA.

If the product is still not functioning properly after making use of these resources, please contact OWC’s Tech Support Department at http://eshop.macsales.com/tech_center/index.cfm. An OWC Tech Support Representative will help determine whether your product requires service and, if it does, will inform you how OWC will provide it. OWC will provide warranty service on products that are tendered or presented for service during the Warranty Period, as permitted by law. You will be responsible for shipping and handling charges to the United States of America for any warranty service. In accordance with applicable law, OWC may require that you furnish proof of purchase details and/or comply with registration requirements before receiving warranty service. Please refer to the accompanying documentation for more details on this and other matters on obtaining warranty service.
